Study Tours to Poland
Study Tours to Poland (STP) is a program enabling students and professionals from the countries of Eastern Europe to visit Poland. The visits’ aim is to get to know Poland and to share experience in the field of democratic and free-market changes, build a country of law and enhance local community and citizen initiatives: www.studytours.pl
Study Tours to Poland was created in 2004 as a part of the program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation “Regions in Transition”- RITA carried out since 2000 by the Foundation - Education for Democracy. Since 2007 the College of Eastern Europe from Wroclaw coordinates the program: www.kew.org.pl
Under this program, STP has invited distinguished students from Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and Russian Federation to visit Polish academic cities. During meetings organized by experienced non-governmental organizations students have an opportunity to get to know Polish academic communities, citizen’s organizations, to meet leaders of the public life, to take part in lectures, workshops, seminars and cultural events. STP for students is coordinated by the foundation “Borussia” from Olsztyn. MTO has been a partner in the STP program since 2007.

In 2010 we invited the tenth group of students from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia for a 12-day study visit to Poland. The 22 students visited different educational institutions and engaged in various other civic activities.
Study Tours to Poland, 2008
In May and October three groups of students from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia spent 12 days each in Nowy Sacz and Krakow visiting educational institutions and learning about various educational initiatives. The 26 students, mainly from cities like Minsk, Kharkov, Donieck, Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg, got a taste of “Everyday Law” during workshops of “Dura Lex, Sed Lex” program and participated in a condensed version of the Academy for Young Social Entrepreneurs. They visited the Business College in Nowy Sacz and attended lessons in Russian literature in the department of Russian language at the local Community College. They shared evening activities such as bowling alley and swimming pool, and visited local disco and jazz clubs.

In April and October 2009 four groups of students from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia spent 12 days in Nowy Sacz and Krakow visiting different educational institutional and various other civic initiatives. The 40 students, mainly from cities like Minsk, Brest, Kharkov, Suma, Kaliningrad and Saint-Petersburg, got a taste of ”Everyday Law” during the workshops of “Dura Lex sed Lex” and also participated in a condensed version of “Public Achievement”. In Nowy Sacz they attended lessons in Russian literature in the department of Russian language and literature at the local Community College. The common language they had with these students helped to build friendships.

10 students from Ukraine, Belarus and Kaliningrad spent 12 days in Nowy Sacz and Krakow visiting educational institutions and learning about various educational initiatives. In October 2007, these students participated in the workshops of the “Solidarity-Passport to Democracy program” as well as a condensed version of the “Academy for Young Social Entrepreneurs”. They visited the Business College of Nowy Sacz as well as the local Community College and were surprised that there was a department of Russian language and literature and that Polish students were choosing to study there. This gave them a common language that helped build friendship. There were evening activities at the bowling alley, disco and jazz club.
